Sense and decide

The stop signal

A polite way to stop pushing an idea

Limit how long any one option can dominate the discussion so an early or forceful proposal does not win on airtime alone.

Borrowed from research by Thomas Seeley and colleagues on the "stop signals" honeybees use to end advocacy for a rival site. Read the original source.

Ongoing habit · Minutes to start · Anyone on the team can start it

Try this first

When one option dominates, say: give the other two equal time before we decide. One redirection does the work.

Use it when

An early or loud option is winning on momentum, not merit.

Skip it when

Use it on open decisions with live alternatives. Skip it for settled calls and emergencies that need one direction fast.
